English in Action Programme officially launched!

On 11 March 2010 at a special reception at the Westin hotel in Dhaka, English in Action will be officially launched. The launch focuses on the fact that the Programme has begun by working with 800teachers in 350 schools across all divisions in Bangladesh.

In attendance will be senior Government representatives, including Dr Afsarul Ameen, Honourable Minister, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education (MOPME), and a senior official from the British High Commission.

From the Netherlands, John Shotton, Project Director of EIA, comments: ‘English in Action is a Programme designed to change approaches to learning English which will enable people, young and old, to change their lives. Improved communicative English will provide better access to employment opportunities in Bangladesh and beyond. Through the use of other innovative technology teachers will be able to develop their own professional capabilities to improve their teaching in the classroom and the learning of their students. In this sense English in Action is a truly transformative Programme’.
