Six baseline studies are being conducted to assess the overall environment of English language teaching and learning in Bangladesh. The studies are (i) Assessment of English competency levels among students and teachers conducted by Trinity College, UK (ongoing); (ii) Social Linguistic Factors concerning English language learning conducted by Uniconsult Ltd., Bangladesh; (iii) Pedagogy and classroom practices  by the Open University, UK (ongoing); (iv) Audit of Materials  by Brigid Smith, international consultant (ongoing); (v) Audit of Teacher Training by Dr. Gillian Tasker, international consultant (ongoing); (vi) The Technology Environment by Uniconsult, Bangladesh (ongoing).
