Development Testing Workshop - July 2009

Two Development Testing   workshops were organized and  conducted on 11th and 12th  March 2009 at the EIA office.
EIA is launching the initial secondary school interventions in July  2009, with teachers attending a launch workshop for the media player intervention. While developing materials for the teachers at this stage, the need for the materials to undergo development testing, to ensure that the underlying assumptions are correct, and that the model is fit for purpose, prior to launch felt crucial. In this context, two Development Testing workshops were organized and conducted on 11 and 12 March 2009 at the EIA office.

A total of 12 teachers (6+6) in two batches participated in the workshops. They were representatives from both Govt. and Non-govt. sectors and also from urban and rural setting.

The purpose of the Development Testing process is twofold – to ensure that the materials are fit for purpose and to refine the materials to give the best end-user experience. However, for this particular Dev Testing workshop there were 4 key foci including:

  • English language level of the developed materials.
  • Clarity and practicality of the activities.
  • Scaffolding - activities sufficiently small, manageable and supported.
  • Cultural / Contextual Appropriateness.
