Workshop held with the IER researchers

Our collaboration with the Institute of Education and Research (IER), University of Dhaka involves improving the knowledge and skills of Post Graduate research students working in the area of English Language Teaching-Learning. After successfully completion of a two year long program (M.Phil) with the first batch of post graduate researchers, we have recently partnered with a second group of students with similar objectives.

A workshop was arranged on April 2013 with the researchers to give them an in-depth introduction to the EIA program. The Director of IER Professor Dr. Abul Ehsan and the Deputy Team leader of EIA Ms. Mourie Nishad Chowdhury led their respective organisations. In his speech, the Director of IER inspired the researchers to be ‘true learners in their imminent education journey’.

As part of their MPhil degree, these researchers will conduct educational research in collaboration with EIA to identify how English in Action interventions have contributed to the teaching-learning in Bangladeshi schools. These research works will also illustrate and analyse the impact of EIA.
We believe this workshop marks the beginning of a continuous and prosperous journey which will bring these researchers to a position where they can further contribute to the educational development of Bangladesh.
