First Quarterly Progress Sharing Meeting of EIA with DPE held

The progress of the EIA programme was held on 17 September 2015 in presence of Director General and the divisional heads of DPE (Directorate of Primary Education). This meeting was planned to provide regular update to the DPE, agenda in this meeting include budget allocation and programme implementation. The meeting was held at the DPE.

Mr. Md. Alamgir Hossain, Director General of DPE; Mr. Fazlur Rhman Bhuyian, Director-Programme, DPE; Mr. Sanjoy Kumer Chowdhury, Director-Training, DPE; Mr. Md. Saber Hossain, Director-Monitoring & Evaluation, DPE and Mr. Md. Siddiqur Rahman, Project Director, EIA, Carolyn Sunners, Head-Human Development Team, DFID; Sue Williamson, Team Leader, EIA were present at the meeting amongst other key officials.

EIA’s effort in building teachers’ capacity in the last seven years and the preparation of the integrated contents of English Subject-based Teacher’s Training (SbT) manual were appreciated in the meeting. All agreed to focus on the capacity building of Master Trainers as well as the Teacher Trainers as they will be conducting the training on the integrated content across the country beyond the project coverage.

The Director General in his concluding remarks, appreciated EIA’s intervention, outcomes and emphasized the need for further collaboration to embed effective teacher development methods and contents into the next programme (post-PEDP III). He also reiterated the importance of learning English and urged everyone to take necessary initiatives for mainstreaming EIA approaches into the sector wide programme structure and system.
